Peaks above a sea of cloud at first light, seen from the hotel

Days here are
measured in light.

CIMA is eleven rooms of larch and stone above the Val d’Arven. Stay one whole day with us — from first sun on the glacier to a sky full of stars — and let the mountain keep the hours.

Breakfast arrives with the sun.

Most mornings the valley is still under cloud. Breakfast is served above it, from seven — with wool blankets if you come early.

12:00The high hours

The mountain writes the itinerary.

Guides, lift passes and picnics are arranged at the desk — a day ahead is notice enough. The rest is weather, and the weather is usually right.

The peaks turn rose.
The water stays at 34°.

The quiet room

Arven-pine walls, wool daybeds, and nothing scheduled.

Swim while the last light climbs the ridge. It takes about twenty minutes to leave; so should you.

21:00Ink & candlelight

Dinner is five courses.
The sky is the sixth.

Restaurant Alva

Chef Ladina Caduff cooks what the valley handed her that morning — char from the Inn, mountain herbs, pluma from the butcher in Zuoz. One menu, five courses, no hurry.

The cellar leans local: Malans Pinot, Valais Petite Arvine, and a génépy we make ourselves for the very end.
